Discount Store Expansion

SUPERVALU is announcing a plan to double the number of Save-A-Lot stores in the United States over the next five years. According to the discount store’s corporate office, 75% of the Save-A-Lot locations are operated by licensed franchisees. The expansion could open the door for more franchise opportunities for entrepreneurs.

QCue (pronounced Cue Cue) is an automated program that uses a dynamic pricing approach that enables teams to adjust their prices, up or down, to meet the demands of fans. Ticket sales increased 20 percent at Pac Bell Park after a trial run with the San Francisco Giants this past season and that success is leading to interest from investors and other professional teams.

Be Competitive with Free Shipping

Entrepreneurs with an online commerce site will face more competition as four out of five online retailers will offer free shipping at some point during the holiday season, according to the latest report from the National Retail Federation and Shop.org. A third of online retailers say that their budgets for free shipping are higher than last year and nearly as many say that their free shipping offers will start earlier this year than they did last year.

“Retailers know that times are tough so they have created promotions and incentives to help Americans save money this holiday season,” said Scott Silverman, Executive Director of Shop.org. “From free shipping to Facebook, online retailers are combining new initiatives with tried-and-true tactics to make their companies stand out.”
