Cash Strapped Entrepreneurs Slow Payments

According to Cortera’s just released September 2009 Small Business Index, small business owners are paying their invoices 25 percent slower than a year ago. The index also claims that small business owners are paying 20 percent slower than the overall business average. The survey measured the payment activities of 260,000 businesses with fewer than 500 employees. Small and big business paid at approximately the same rate prior to the recession but now small business currently has a 55 higher days beyond term (DBT) rate than businesses with more than 500 employees.

 New Invention Helps Small Biz Owners Avoid a Lawsuit

As unseasonably cool temperatures take over parts of the U.S. ice could pose a threat to many small businesses fiscal fitness. Ice on the ground can be remedied by using salt but an inventor has created a new product that can help prevent falling ice from roofs and overhangs. Robert Lenney, inventor of IceBreaker, says that his heated gutter guard can eliminate icicle fatalities. 

“IceBreaker is a heated gutter guard because it has a built-in channel in the gutter guard itself that the heat cable snaps into,” says Lenney. “This built-in feature for the heat cable allows significantly more potential of conductive heat to radiate through itself and downward inside the gutter.”
